MP Peter Julian was born and raised in the New Westminster-Burnaby area where his family has lived for four generations. After graduating from New Westminster Secondary School, Peter worked as a manual labourer and factory worker. He has a degree in Political Science from the University of Québec in Montréal. Since elected as Member of Parliament in 2004, Peter has been NDP’s National Caucus Chair, Official Opposition House Leader, and Shadow Finance Minister. He is currently House Leader of the NDP, Public Safety Critic and Canadian Heritage Critic.
As House Leader, Peter took on the role of a Negotiator for the federal NDP caucus in the 43rd Parliament for all the Covid-related support programs and legislation. Over the past few years, Peter has dedicated his time to ensuring the federal government is extending support to everyone in our communities across Canada.
