CALU joins SHBC Coalition

CALU recently joined the Smart Health Benefits Coalition (SHBC), a new health benefits collective which will be actively engaged in the pharmacare legislation currently before Parliament. CALU is lending its voice to help provide prescription drug coverage to those who need, but cannot afford, essential medications. We believe this can best be done by preserving the current system of group insurance that works well for millions of Canadians while addressing gaps in coverage in a fiscally responsible manner. Coalition for a Better Future

CALU has recently joined over 100 other organizations as a member of the Coalition for a Better Future, which has its goal to create dialogue on the long-term economic well-being of Canada in a post-pandemic future. As outlined in this press release, former federal Cabinet ministers Hon. Anne McLellan and Hon. Lisa Raitt are leading this initiative as co-chairs of the Coalition's Advisory Council.

Will Power campaign national launch

The first national Will Power / Volonté de faire campaign, led by CAGP and sponsored by CALU, launches next week. The campaign encourages Canadians to support their favourite charities in their wills, with a goal of raising the level of charitable giving through wills to 8.5 per cent of all Canadians by 2030. Follow the campaign online at willpower.ca, and join the conversation on social media with the hashtags #willpowerca and #volontedefaireca. It's also not too late to join the campaign as a partner. Canadian Business Resilience Network calls on the Prime Minister for national economic re-opening plan

CALU joined with the Canadian Business Resilience Network of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to call on the Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada to take action. With input of CALU and other recognized experts in strategic philanthropy, financial planning and the insurance industry, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) has created a series of user-friendly information resources intended to provide straightforward guidance and direction to fundraisers, professional advisors, donors, and insurers when facilitating charitable donations using life insurance.
