May 7, 2019 – Roger Sinclair, CFP, has been elected Chair of the Board of the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) for the years 2019-2020.

Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Roger is a Founder and Partner at SBW Wealth Management & Employee Benefits. He has spent 37 years providing practical financial advice to clients throughout Atlantic Canada and is recognized as a national industry leader. Roger is the first Nova Scotian to chair CALU.

During his term, Roger will focus on promoting civic and political involvement as a core value of the CALU membership.

“In recent years, our industry and our organization has grappled with numerous challenges due to homegrown and global influences. CALU members have stepped up and shared their expertise to ensure clients understand impacts and government is well positioned to address this disruption in a way that is innovative, fair and consistent,” says Roger. “What better time to reinvigorate our commitment to shaping public policy to safeguard the financial health of Canadians than during an election year.”

Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Roger is a graduate and former member of the Board of Governors of the University of Prince Edward Island. He is a member of CALU and has served on the Board since 2015. He chaired the CALU 2019 Annual General Meeting and is also a member of CALU’s partner organization, Advocis—The Financial Advisors Association of Canada.

Roger is active in his community. He is a director of the Brigadoon Children’s Camp Society and the North British Society. He is also current national president of the Clan Sinclair Association (Canada) and a former member of the National Board of Directors of the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2011 he was recognized as the recipient of the prestigious Jack Hopwood Memorial Award, which is presented biannually to a Great-West Life financial advisor who has played an outstanding service to the community and clients.
